Opening content in web window crashes Lectora 17 course in Chrome

I'm having a new issue that has not come up before. When testing a SCORM2004 course created in Lectora 17 in Chrome, a strange error appears.

Some of our content is linked via web window. The content views fine in IE 11 and firefox, but when Chrome is attempted, nothing loads in the web window, but a popup asks if it is okay to load unsafe scripts. When permission is given an error message "LMSinitialize error" is generated and the course crashes. Anyone experienced this?

Chrome is replacing IE as the "non-standard browser" developers fear, partly because of Google's apparent policy of daily updates. (That's an exaggeration, but they do update a lot, and surprisingly often it breaks something.)
