Using back and forth buttons to view a process

The title here is clunky, but what I have is a series of five images with supporting text. I have the logic to click a button and move from one image/text group to another. Now I need a way to move backward  so learner can review steps.  There are variables in place to move forward, but I may need to reconfigure the whole thing by adding the backward movement. Any ideas? Thanks.

Are you physically moving the images/text boxes to a different location on a single page? Or are you using show/hide actions to make the objects appear in the same location on page?

I'd have a set of buttons that were for moving forward that would disappear when the steps are complete and then a new set of buttons for moving backwards.  If we could look at the page setup I might be able to offer more in-depth suggestions.
