Session timeout Blackboard passes unnoticed, course answers lost

We are having a problem with Lectora courses on BB9 that may timeout (after about 40 minutes) and will not signal the user on resuming, until after too late... On exiting the course an error is show, but by then all the answers given after the timeout are lost.

This is very very annoying.

(In a 'class-setting' this would not likely occur; these courses are for self-paced distant learning, where students may take long breaks...)



Any ideas to deal with this? Is it possible to notify the user that the session has timed out right after resuming the course?

Or is it possible to have dummy interactions, to keep the session alive? Or is it possible to keep the session alive by using a specific setting?
