Detecting Screen Readers

I attended the 2010 Lectora Conference and there was a presentation on how to be 508 compliant. Inside the course presented, the developer had an action/javascript that automatically detected if there was a screen reader. Can anyone tell me how to do this?



I am creating an audio intensive course, and am directing people down one of two paths based upon whether or not they have a screen reader. If I can have it automatically detecte the screen reader it would make the course much smoother.

The Screen Reader Detected text box MUST have a HTML name of text10704 for the detector to work. The Screen Reader Not Detected text box MUST have a HTML name of text9542 for the detector to work. Open .awt file with Notepad and change the text boxes from current HTML name to these. I put the detector on the 1st page of my courses.
