Basic Question About VAriables and LMS

I am new to SCORM and Lectora and have a basic but critical question. Here is what I want to do:
1. Define a set of variables that provide information about the student.
2. Read those variables into a Lectora module and update them
3. Share the same variables among several modules
The underlying idea is to use the same variables in each module to keep track of the student so when the module is launched it "knows" something about the student's past performance.
To clarify, here is an example:
1. Student takes a test (outside Lectora) and gets a score.
2. I want to be able to launch a Lectora module and then use the score to control what information is displayed to the student.
If there is no easy way to get the data into the variables, I would be willing to create a Lectora module into which I would type them.
What this means is that when the module is launched, the variables need to be populated with their current values.
As I understand SCORM this should be possible.
Does this make sense and is doable? BTW, the LMS will be Moodle.
Thanks,
Charlie
