We are looking for a full time QA Specialist. This is NOT a Lectora developer position and does not pay at the level of a contract developer, but does require familiarity with Lectora since that is the primary authoring tool we use. This position strictly involves QA course review with some side administrative responsibilities. The person would work from home for a virtual company as an employee with benefits, and must have experience with proofreading, QA, testing, copy editing, etc. The company is Essential Learning (www.essentiallearning.com). E-learning QA Specialist

The E-learning QA Specialist, reporting to the Director of Instructional Technology, is responsible for ensuring that all online courses are error free by carefully conducting meticulous course reviews of new and existing online courses with an extreme eye for detail based on a QA checklist. The successful candidate will have a high level attention to detail with excellent visual acuity in order to identify and resolve spelling, grammar, spacing, graphical, technical and other errors and course issues.

Job Duties • Carefully quality check (QA) online courses with high attention to detail using checklists and other documentation to check for technical and content errors. • Verify online courses function correctly and contain the required components based on checklists provided. •Identify spelling, spacing, graphical design imperfections, punctuation, content errors, typos, and technical errors. •Make minor corrections in courses using development software and work with developers to correct larger course issues in a timely manner. •Track all corrections and submit monthly report documenting trends in QA development errors along with suggestions for improving QA procedures. •Complete Section 508 compliance review of new and existing courses and make minor adjustments as necessary. •Ensure courses are 100% error free before singing off QA review form. •Inform developers of trends found as a result of doing QA reviews and suggest corrective actions. •Troubleshoot problems reported by other departments with existing courses and course tests and make corrections as needed. •Assist with creating improved QA procedures and documentation for the Instructional Technology department to improve efficiency and quality QA procedures. •Complete monthly Instructional Technology reports and other administrative tasks as needed. •Develop online courses using Lectora software as needed.

Position requirements: •Experience with proof reading or copy editing, preferably in web based environment. •Extremely comfortable working on computers and in a web-based environment. •Experience working with Microsoft documents including PowerPoint, Office, and Excel. •Preferred experience with course authoring tools such as Lectora, Camtasia, and Adobe Flash. •Strong back ground in web-based applications – preferably elearning. •Comfortable working from a home office for a virtual company. •Preferred background in instructional technology and course development.

Personal Qualities: •Must be thorough and detail oriented in all tasks. •Ability to manage time while multitasking between several issues. •Must work independently (self-motivated) and efficiently to meet deadlines •Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills. Able to professionally interact with customers and developers. •High level of independence and reliability with strong organizational skills.
