reading order

Hi

I am developing an accessible course using the latest version of lectora. I am still new to lectora, not sure how Lectora configures the reading order of the objects on a page. As per my understanding, the reading order of the objects is as per the hierarchy of the objects - as they appear on the left side pane. I am confused as my 'skip to main content' link does not act as per that. I have this text block (skip to main content) as a first object on the page, but it gets read by JAWS after few buttons, unless I check the checkbox 'Always on Top'. If I have this setting set on the text block, then it gets read by JAWS as a first object on the page. With this setting, the text link appears on the page, but I prefer it to be hidden.

I may be wrong in uderstanding this. The question here is, how does the reading order works in lectora, and what is the actual use of "Always on Top" setting. Sorry for the lenghty post.Hi
