I don't like it at all. What was wrong with the previous forum design?

Specifically; 1. the font is too small (in forum posts)  & I don't see any way to set a default size in my profile settings.2. When searching on a topic, for example SCORM, you will see 1853 threads and 155 possible pages at the bottom of the list. Once you have scanned the 1st page, and click to advance to the second page, you lose your threads. The number changes to 26850 which looks like the total number of threads in the DB. How in the heck do you see the rest of your hits?3. where is the "email me responses" setting that was in the previous message board?It is a huge time saver to know when you have a reply to a post.

I really don't understand the reason for the change from the old fourm to something that looks like it is a half baked custom solution. Why not just use one of the commercial solutions that has all the whistles and bells? There are dozens.
