I think that is a great way to go and in line with what I was thinking. My thoughts were to control the start and stop with the navigation buttons. One step further for individuals tracking time for HR purposes would be to add a pause button in case the learner walks away for one reason or another. My goal was to track the "real" time a user spends in a course for labor regulation reasons and then pass that data back to my LMS.
